Waimakariri District Plan Review - Localised Natural Hazards

Waimakariri District Council is now seeking further feedback from the community on localised natural hazard issues.

As part of the District Plan review the Council is updating the natural hazard maps and provisions including the objectives, policies and rules. Once these maps and provisions are updated they will be used by Council when processing resource and building consents.

The Council is seeking local knowledge from the community on localised natural hazard issues. The Council considers community feedback will help to support the protection of the Waimakariri District’s environmental, physical and social interests.

This feedback is being sought in a two-stage consultation process. Stage one invites community members to submit feedback. The community are also invited to attend one or more of the upcoming workshops led by the Council.

In stage two (dates yet to be confirmed) the Council will share the wider community feedback and invite the community’s views on risk management and mitigation.

The deadline for submitting feedback is 5pm on 26 July 2019.
